Hillcrest's Mission Statement

Within the community of Hillcrest, we will care for those you love as we strive to serve individuals without discrimination, but with keen recognition of each individual’s privacy, dignity, worth, and wholeness. Hillcrest is dedicated to help individuals achieve and maintain the highest level of physical, social, and emotional health. 

Hillcrest Facts

Hillcrest is a community owned, nonprofit corporation operated by the people of the Sumner area for its residents. Hillcrest is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of 12 area, community-minded citizens elected by their peers at an annual pubic meeting. 

Hillcrest is self-supporting; it relies strictly on its programs for operational monies. There have never been any tax monies used. The Hillcrest Foundation does supplement income and necessary projects from time to time because numerous generous people who have left bequests. Hillcrest is a member of Leading Age and Leading Age of Iowa. We are certified as a participating facility in the Title XIX (Medicaid) and Title XVIII (Medicare) Program. We are also licensed annually by the Department of Inspections and Appeals.

A Long History of Local Control

Through the years, Hillcrest's Board of Directors have given their time generously without compensation. Their decisions and perspective keep the focus on what is best for the residents, staff, AND Sumner. We can't thank them enough for their self-less service.
