Staff Bios

   

Beth Diers - Administrator
Beth went to Fredericksburg High School and has been in the healthcare industry for most of her life. She began her career at the Fredericksburg Nursing Home then moved to Mercy Medical Center and The Heritage Residence in New Hampton. At 18 years old Beth moved to Kentucky/Tennessee and had many new experiences living near Fort Campbell.

Beth came to Hillcrest as a Dietary Aide and Cook in 2007. She put herself through the Dietary Managers class at the University of North Dakota and became a Certified Dietary Manager. She became the Dining Services Manager at Hillcrest in 2010. Beth attended The Northland Community and Technical College and obtained Gen Eds and advanced dietetic training. She transferred credits to both DMACC and Upper Iowa University.  In August of 2022 Beth was promoted to Provisional Administrator. Beth graduated Suma Cum Laude from Upper Iowa in 2024 and passed her boards to be a Licensed Nursing Home Adminstrator shortly after.  

Beth’s hobbies are listening to podcasts, kayaking, experimenting,  and going to as many of her many "kids'" activites as possible.  She enjoys catching ball games , and traveling. Beth’s favorite part about traveling is discovering new culture, listening to diverse languages and accesnts mix together. Beth has been to nearly every state and five countries following this passion. She traveled to Scotland as an Annapurna Exchange person through Healthcare Caterers International and to Greece with a group from Upper Iowa Univeristy. 


Larissa Dugan  - Director of Nursing
Larissa is a graduate of Sumner-Fredericksburg High School as well as a current resident of Sumner.

Sherry Nielsen - Activity Director
Sherry’s employment at Hillcrest began in 1976 as Nurses’ Aide, while finishing her senior year in High School. Six years into employment, a part-time position as an Activity Assistant became available. She continued to work as a Nurses’ Aide as well as part-time Activity Assistant. In 1988, Sherry took classes in Calmar to get her accreditation for Activity Coordinator.

She was hired as Activity Director in 2007 where she plans and schedules activities to help enrich the lives of individuals at Hillcrest. Sherry feels working at Hillcrest for 40 years has been enlightening and a privilege. It has given her the opportunity to know and be involved in the lives of all the great people who reside at Hillcrest.


Raven Hirsch - Dietary Manager
Raven is a lifetime member of the Sumner and Fredericksburg communities. She recieved her Dietary Manager Certificate from the Univerisy of North Dakota and passed her Dietary Manager Boards in 2025. Raven is also a graduate of Hawkeye Community College.  Raven has been an employee at Hillcrest since 2014. She has worked here as a cook, CNA, Universal Worker, housekeeper, and even in maintenance! Raven enjoys cooking and is one of the most organized people she knows!

Elysa Hampton - Environmental Services Supervisor
Elysa has been a member of the Hillcrest team for a number of years and has a kind and caring spirit. She was noted by her supervisor to have leadership potential and was promoted to the environmental services supervisor position in August 2022. 

Mark Goodenbour - Supervisor of Maintenance
Mark was promoted to the Supervisor of Maintenance position in August of 2022, he has a a strong background in carpentry and resides with his wife Bonnie in Tripoli.
